This year, the Tealwood Group is proudly celebrating its 50th anniversary, an important milestone in any company's history.
Originally founded in 1966, by veteran engravers, Alan Teal and John Silwood, Tealwood, whichremains a family owned and run business, which lives by the motto: ‘If it can be done we can do it!’ has steadily built a reputation for taking on the interesting and unusual.
Having initially specialised in the production of engraving mould tools, labels and tally plates, Tealwood soon moved from its original Horndean workshop to larger premises in Havantwhere it expanded its engraving department and also added screenprinting to its repertoire. A period of rapid expansion necessitated three further moves before it finally settled in its current 9,500sq.ft premises in Waterlooville last year.
Current Managing Director Anthony Teal, son of Alan, joined the company in 1981, just before the retirement of John Silwood in 1983, whereupon he discovered a passion for screenprinting, which in turn lead to the acquisition ofScreenprint '87 in 1994. Alan also retired in 2000 leaving Anthony as the sole director and, under his expert guidance Tealwood has continued to grow, acquiring Badgers, a specialist corporate badge making company in 2003.
Moving with the times, Tealwood has purchased two CNC engraving machines, a vacuum forming machine and two digital printers and now offers a wide range of services, including screenprinting, CNC engraving, rotary printing, pad printing, UV digital flatbed printing, digital vinyl printing and sign cutting, as well as laser cutting and engraving, but as Anthony Teal explains, the company's scope is actually infinite.
He says: “Over the years we have fulfilled many major contracts for a wide range of different industry sectors, such as plaques for national drinks brands that are used in pubs countrywide. Our true strength lies in our versatility and willingness to work with customers in order to deliverprecisely what they need. Whether it's an individual or a large corporation, we will do everything within in our power to make their idea a reality and a lot of that is down to our loyal staff, which over the last five decades has helped to make us the company we are today.
