From June 20 to 25,eight artists painted new murals along Toronto's Don River, inspired by the urban watershed's resilience, ecological challenges and opportunities.Their site is part of a larger mural project titled‘A Love Letter to the Great Lakes.’
The site is a new south gate to the Lower Don Trail at the Don Valley Parkway (DVP) and Gardiner Expressway ramps and at the Don Landing Rail Bridge. The artists represented are (north to south) Kwest, Janus, Kirsten McCrea, Alexa Hatanaka, Erica Balon, MC Baldassari, Rajni Perera and Jason Botkin.
As the first freshwater edition of the PangeaSeed Foundation's international‘Sea Walls: Murals for Oceans,'the love letter project aims to celebrate the Great Lakes through art, beautify neighbourhoods and stimulate broader public awareness of environmental issues.
