Frederick, Maryland-based sign shop SMI Sign Systems announces that it has been ranked No. 2,956 on Inc. Magazine's annual Inc. 5000 list, which tracks the fastest-growing private small businesses in the United States.
SMI, now in its 27th year, has grown from a two-person shop in Rockville, Maryland, to a company that employs nearly 50 people and has two manufacturing facilities in Frederick. Last year the company did $6.4 million in revenue, and over the past three years it has grown by 116 percent. In the past five years the company has doubled in size in both number of employees and annual sales.
The company makes custom interior, exterior, ADA-compliant and wayfinding signs for a wide variety of clients, primarily in the Maryland, Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia markets. SMI's manufacturing and sign program management services are offered nationally.
