Signmakers urged to explore diversification

2015-10-22

UK signmakers are being urged to attend the debut edition of The Print Show not only to view the latest technology in wide-format print, but also to gain inspiration from the diverse range of opportunities offered by both the wide-format and commercial print sectors.

Scheduled to take place on 13th-15th October, at Birmingham’s NEC and supported by exhibitors drawn from all sectors of the print industry, The Print Show will celebrate all things print.

And, while visitors operating within the commercial print sector will be encouraged to learn how wide format digital printing can open up new revenue streams, similarly, visitors operating within the sign display and digital print areas will also be able to see how the addition of a commercial print service would help to enhance their businesses.

Phil George, Director of Signmaster Systems, one of the show’s biggest exhibitors in terms of stand space, commented: “While commercial printers report that a lot of customers are now asking for digitally printed items, such as signs and banners, sign and digital print companies are finding that customers often ask them for printed marketing collateral, such as letterheads, leaflets and business cards, so the show is equally relevant to any company operating within the visual communications sector.”

Another company that has opted to exhibit at the show is Grafityp. Debbie Astle, the company’s UK Marketing Manager feels that The Print Show will also provide visitors withan excellent opportunity to compare the quality and price of the products that individual exhibitors are offering, while also taking full advantage of the many special offers and promotions that will be running for the event’s duration.

She said: “Signmaking and digital printing seem to go hand in hand nowadays and signmakers that don’t own digital printers often find themselves needing to outsource jobs.  However, it no longer costs the earth to acquire the relevant kit, with smaller machines now available at very reasonable prices and with suppliers such as Grafitypoffering special finance packages.

“While the ability to produce full colour printed signs is of course an advantage, a comparatively modest investment in equipment can also enable sign companies to offer the full range of decals, stickers, posters, banners, vehicle wraps and all sorts of graphics too, with the consequent positive impact that this could make to their bottom line”

Further expounding on this theme, Event Director Chris Davies added: “The reason for the show is to provide an event that represents the print industry as a whole, rather than simply focusing on just one area.

“The whole visual communicationsmarket has improved a lot over recent months and now is a really good time for sign and print businesses to maximise the scope of their operations. The Print Show will help them to gain valuable insights into the full breadth of opportunities available, as well as the technologies they need to adopt to ensure a successful future.”
