Stamford, Connecticut-based LandmarkPrint, a full-service sign, promotional products and graphics communications company, announces its purchase of a new Zünd G3 digital cutter system to enhance its in-house capabilities, particularly in the area of wide-format printing.
“We wanted to offer more creative production options to our clients and be the clear vendor of choice on specialty projects,” says Carmine Iannacchino, one of LandmarkPrint's principal owners. “The Zünd name always came up as a leader in digital cutting. Many of my colleagues have gone with a Zünd cutting system and loved it, so I called (Louisville, Colorado-based) Global Imaging to see if I could learn more about it.”
The Zünd cutter joins the other wide-format equipment that LandmarkPrint uses, including an HP Scitex FB700 flatbed UV printer with Caldera RIP and 8' roll capacity; an Epson 64” GS 6000 roll printer; and a Seal 62” laminator.
Most of the shop's wide-format customers are marketing or ad agencies, design firms and corporate marketing departments who are seeking a huge variety of products, the company says. Prior to owning the Zünd, it was limited to only square and round cuts, but now they can cut any kind of custom shapes the customers wants as long as it fits on the 72” x 98” table bed.
Iannacchino says he chose Global Imaging to purchase the Zünd cutter from because of its reputation in the wide-format industry and its excellent software and support services. The Colorado company worked with LandmarkPrint throughout the entire process, including initial ordering and application configuring, to financing, and finally to installation, which in itself was a challenge, the company says.
Founded by former Xerox Corp. executives, LandmarkPrint employs about 55 people in its 35,000-square-foot facility. Aside from its wide-format operations, it also offers on-demand digital printing services using Kodak and Xerox printers; commercial offset printing using Komori, Heidelberg and Agfa printers; and web-to-print services using EFI, Apple and Microsoft products.
