Times Square Done for Coke Wins OAAA Award

Minneapolis-based space150, hired by Coca-Cola to design a multi-dimensional billboard for Times Square, earned the Craft award at the Outdoor Advertising Association of America’s (OAAA) 76th annual OBIE Awards Show recently.

The agency won the Digital Design Craft Award, honoring exceptional use of digital integration through skill and production.

According to the OAAA, the OBIE Awards are the oldest and one of the most prestigious advertising programs, honoring creative excellence in out-of-home (OOH) advertising campaigns.
Coca-Cola worked with space150 to build the world’s first 3D robotic billboard, which featured thousands of independent, computerized LED cubes that moved seamlessly together to bring new virtual dimension and movement to static, video, and 3D content.  

“Designing for a digital OOH display is always challenging,” says Stephen Freitas, OAAA chief marketing officer. “But to design for a first-of-its-kind unit with so many moving parts it quite the feat and well deserving of an OBIE Craft Award.”
