Attendees of the upcoming Labelexpo Americas 2018 will get a sneak peek at Durst Group’s latest advancements in ultraviolet-curing (UV-curing) inkjet single pass printing technology.

The Durst Tau 330 RSC is a UV inkjet label and package printing press that features 330 mm (13 in.) print width with a print speed of up to 78 m (245 ft) per minute at a resolution of 1200 x 1200 dots per inch (dpi). The system, which runs at 1.485 m² per hour, has eight colour stations (CMYK, W, OVG) with high-pigmented inks and delivers flexo-like print quality with close to 95 per cent Pantone colour gamut coverage.

The press, which has already had more than 10 successful installations in Europe, is available as a stand-alone unit, or can be configured as a ‘digital-flexo hybrid press’ with OMET’s Xflex series of conventional finishing options.

The unit’s configuration options include jumbo unwinder and material pre-treatment options (e.g. inline corona, web cleaner, priming), as well as post-press finishing options (e.g. varnishing, cold foil, lamination, die-cutting, slitting, rewinding).

“Our customers have been impressed by the machine’s print quality and production speed, as well as its low variable and total cost of ownership,” said Helmuth Munter, Durst’s global segment manager for labels and package printing.

Durst will perform live demonstrations of the system at this year’s Labelexpo Americas, which will be held in Chicago on Sept. 25 to 27. Also on live demonstration will be the Durst-powered OMET XJet. Both systems will be distributed by OMET US in North America.
