Signarama Replicates Iconic Ghostbusters Movie Sign for Premier
In celebration of the upcoming debut of Ghostbusters: Afterlife—exclusively in U.S. movie theaters on November 19—Signarama, a member of the United Franchise Group-affiliated family of brands and the world’s leading sign franchise, has made signs for countless enthusiastic organizations and recently connected with an exceptionally passionate group, The Buffalo Ghostbusters.
The Buffalo Ghostbusters raised funds to recreate the infamous Ghostbuster sign that hung over the Tribeca neighborhood, New York fire station, Hook and Ladder No. 8.
For those who are not familiar with the Ghostbusters movie franchise, Hook and Ladder No. 8, in the Tribeca neighborhood of Lower Manhattan in New York City, New York, was featured in the original franchise as the Ghostbusters headquarters and is not only a destination for Ghostbusters fans, but also a historical building.
The new sign, commissioned by the Buffalo Ghostbusters fan group, was recently hung on the historical Tribeca firehouse featured in the original movie as the Ghostbusters headquarters.
“We are no strangers to iconic signage,” says Dawn Tiritter-Bent, co-owner of Signarama Huntington Station for over thirty years with her brother Mike Ziccardi. “We want our customers to trust that we will get the job done while maintaining the historical integrity of the project. Together with our network, there’s no job we can’t complete.”
Signarama’s passion for branding and signage is a match made in heaven for passionate groups like The Buffalo Ghostbusters who are also a fixture in the local community. They are known for dressing in full Ghostbuster gear at community events to raise money for charities such as Toys for Tots, Camp Good Days, Make A Wish Foundation, and of course, firehouses.
At first, The Buffalo Ghostbuster’s plan was to replace the sign with a prop, but when their go-fund-me campaign exceeded expectations, they commissioned Signarama, Huntington Station, to construct a true-to-life recreation. The two-sided LED sign has been completed and is now on display outside the firehouse.
“We expected to raise a thousand dollars for this project,” said Dan Liberg of the Buffalo Ghostbusters. “But once donations exceeded the original amount, we decided we needed to do right by the sign and replace it to its original glory. We’re all so proud of our involvement in the sign and are so excited that Signarama loved being a part of it too!”
