The script “Tigers” sign at Comerica Park, Detroit has been replaced by corporate signage bearing the park’s name, The Detroit News reports.
The large-script “Tigers” sign, long atop the left-field scoreboard illuminated in orange and black — the Detroit Tigers colors — has reached mechanical end of life, a Tigers spokesperson states. Signage reading “Comerica Park” in white letters will occupy the spot above the 15,000-sq.-ft.-plus videoboard.
“Comerica Park” was spelled out beneath the “Tigers” sign and above a smaller videoboard from 2000, when the park opened, through 2023. The larger videoboard was installed before the 2024 season. In a statement on March 17, the Tigers say that prominently displaying the park’s name is customary for Major League Baseball ballparks.
