Suwanee, Georgia-based Mimaki USA, a manufacturer of wide-format inkjet printers and cutters for the sign and graphics, apparel and industrial markets, announces the official opening of its Toronto branch office. The company marked the occasion with a grand opening event on Oct. 11, featuring a traditional Kagami Biraki ceremony. The traditional Japanese ceremony involves breaking open a cask of sake with a wooden mallet. The ceremony symbolizes an opening to good fortune in harmony.
In addition to Mimaki staff, attendees included dealers, customers, and local press to mark the opening of the company's first Canadian site. Members of the Sign Association of Canada (SAC-ACE) also attended, bringing the headcount to roughly 60 attendees.
Plans for the 11,000-square-foot facility were originally announced in September.
