Allen Signs has expanded following the acquisition of another business and the doubling of the size of its premises.

The company, which has offices in Lincoln and Nottingham, has recently bought the printing division of Double Red that was formerly owned by Lincoln-based photographer James Wright.

Previously based at South Hykeham, Double Red will operate independently under the slightly modified name of Double Red Print.

Commenting on this latest acquisition, Dave Allen, Allen Sign’s Managing Director explained: “Over the years, we’ve worked closely with the team at Double Red on a number of projects and have valued its input and expertise and so when James asked if we were interested in taking over the print side of the business, so that he could concentrate on the photographic side, it presented us with an excellent opportunity to continue our policy of continual growth and development, especially since we are celebrating our half centenary this year!”

Double Red Print will be based at Allen Signs’ premises on Whisby Way in North Hykeham, which has recently been extended to incorporate an adjacent building, a move that has facilitated the creation of    a larger workshop, a dedicated vehicle livery area and the acquisition of further equipment, including a 2.5m wide Mimaki printer and two Canon printers that use environmentally-friendly water-based inks.

David Allen continued: “Having access to Double Red’s wide-format printer portfolio has massively boosted the services we are able to offer our clients, such as the ability to produce large high quality photos, which will enhance the exhibition side of our business.”

He added that he is also looking forward to welcoming former Double Red employees Matt Ryder and Rob Hodgson to his team.  He said: “We’re delighted that Matt and Rob are joining us as they have been integral to the growth of Double Red and we’ve always been very impressed by both the excellent reputation they have gained within the industry and the attention to detail they pay to their work.  It’s also important that Double Red clients can feel secure in the knowledge that they will receive the same high level of service as previously.”
