Canon recently held an event at its Brampton, Ont., office to debut new products and extend appreciation to its customers.

The open house offered visitors a look at the company’s showroom, which included displays of its camera, projector, and printer product lines. Canon team members were on-site to answer questions and provide demonstrations of the different technologies, including its wide-format imagePROGRAF, Océ Arizona, and Océ Colorado printers.

Among the products demonstrated was the company’s Océ Colorado 1640 wide format roll-to-roll (RTR) printer. The device is the first to use Canon’s UVgel technology, an ultraviolet-curable (UV-curable) ink which is able to bond with a range of substrates for a variety of applications, including wall coverings, floor graphics, and outdoor banners. With maximum print speeds of 159 m2 (1710 sf) per hour, the Colorado 1640 is one of the fastest 1.6-m (64-in.) RTR printers in the industry, reports Canon.

The Océ Colorado 1640 was named product of the year by the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) in 2017.
